Anno 117: Pax Romana (2025)
Anno 117: Pax Romana — a city-building game developed by Ubisoft Mainz and published by Ubisoft. This is a project close to our heart: we've been working with Ubisoft for many years and supporting the iconic Anno series, helping Russian-speaking players immerse themselves in the game's various historical eras. Fans of the genre have been eagerly awaiting this latest installment since the release of Anno 1800, six years ago.
A franchise like this always presents a challenge for localization teams. Ubisoft titles are known for their richly detailed game worlds, and Pax Romana is no exception: from strict, tradition-bound Latium to the wild frontier of Albion, the game features various provinces of the Roman Empire at the height of its power. Along the way, players encounter a vibrant mix of languages and dialects, from classical Latin and Greek to Welsh and Irish.
To ensure historical authenticity, our team carried out extensive research. Among other things, this involved transliterating pseudo-historical place names and ship names, and diving into the structure of Roman legions, the daily life of the Vestals, the cult of the goddess Epona, and even the flora and fauna of the British Isles. Our specialists devoted special attention to the characters: using the developers' detailed biographies, they created speech-profile maps to give each character a unique, lively voice.
