Article Contents

Mundfish is a video game development studio that gained widespread recognition after releasing Atomic Heart, a first-person shooter with RPG elements. The studio’s mission is to create unique, immersive worlds that leave a lasting mark on the gaming industry. To achieve this, it takes development seriously, hiring specialists from around the world.

Task

Mundfish approached us to provide Russian voiceover for the third expansion of Atomic Heart: “Enchantment Under the Sea”. The studio needed a team that could organize the voice recording process within tight deadlines while meeting strict confidentiality requirements. The client’s audio team was spread across different cities and countries, so another key requirement was the ability to provide conditions for remote work.

Why us

Logrus IT has been localizing video games since 1997 and collaborates with some of the industry’s largest developers and publishers. We have worked on widely recognized projects within the gaming industry.

Our key services include voiceover and audio post-processing, such as track editing, noise reduction, and special effects. Our in-house sound engineers and voice directors work in our professional recording studio, equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

Solution

For Atomic Heart: Enchantment Under The Sea, the Logrus IT team included a voice director, sound engineers, a project manager, and a project coordinator. We had a crucial role here—our audio would serve as the master version for localization into other languages. Our extensive experience in providing voiceover for both localized games and original content gave us confidence in this task.

The Logrus IT team was responsible for:

  • Organizing voice recording
  • Coordinating with actors
  • Preparing scripts for actors
  • Synchronizing dialogs with animation
  • Ensuring information security
  • Facilitating communication between participants
  • Directing voice acting
  • Audio recording and post-processing

For Mundfish, protecting information from leakage before release was a top priority. We agreed on appropriate security measures with the client, including secure data transmission and strict NDAs for actors and other participants.

The Logrus IT team also ensured a seamless remote recording setup, with high-speed Internet and direct microphone transmission for actors. The participants could hear each other clearly and without delays, ensuring no disruptions for the actors.

A crucial aspect of audio projects is properly managing and preparing scripts for recording. Given the project’s tight deadlines, this was a critical task. Our extensive industry experience was essential in ensuring a successful outcome here.

Every actor is unique and requires a tailored approach. For this project, we worked with a total of 15 actors. The sound engineer’s role was to guide them in capturing each character’s personality and tone. Some of the actors had previously voiced characters in the main game, while others were new to the project, bringing fresh energy to their roles.

Producing a master audio track requires balancing tight schedules with creative expression—and we achieved this. We recorded 2–3 versions of each line, differing in intonation and emotion. Throughout the process, our team refined the dialog to enhance its natural flow and emotional impact. Processing a large volume of material in a short time was challenging, but it ultimately resulted in an impactful and memorable sound scale.

Outcome

Over 1.5 months, we recorded approximately 4,000 lines (excluding alternate takes). Despite the complexity of coordinating actors juggling multiple projects, we ensured a smooth process that met the client’s expectations and deadlines.

The DLC was released on January 28, 2025, quickly gaining popularity among Atomic Heart fans. Our team is proud to have contributed to the project, and the client was highly satisfied with our work.
