Cards, Money, and Belgrade: The Belgrade Future Gaming Expo

Between May 26 and 27, 2026, the annual Belgrade Future Gaming Expo — a large event for gaming technology and equipment in southeastern Europe — took place in Belgrade, Serbia. Logrus IT Head of Content Operations Yulia Polozova attended the event to study trends in the region and connect with exhibiting vendors.
The event brought together software developers and manufacturers of payment terminals and gaming machines. Among the participants were companies from the Balkan states, Austria, Germany, and other European countries:
- ALEA PARTNERS
- Alfastreet Gaming
- AMATIC
- Automodules Tech Corp
- EVONA
- Interslot GmbH
- Novomatic AG
- SYNOT Group and many more

Large software developers, like the Slovakian EVONA, took part in the event
Belgrade Future Gaming was a laid-back and informal event. Attendees enjoyed loud music and lively networking. Many exhibitor booths were set up in the welcome area, where company representatives could connect with one another.
The conference also featured new technologies. These included a new series of gaming machines from Euro Games Technology (EGT), a Bulgarian manufacturer, outfitted with curved screens and 4K UHD displays to increase immersion. Automated solutions were also part of the mix. ReelQuick, a Serbian company, showcased their AI platform that analyzes sports broadcasts in real-time, automatically pulls out the game highlights, and converts them into a short video clip.
Balkan iGaming
Gambling is either restricted or completely banned in many regions of the world. The Balkans, however, is not one of those regions. Gambling is legal and flourishing not just offline, but in the online segment as well, thanks in large part to strict government regulations.
One of the most dynamic iGaming markets in the region is Serbia. According to public data, the online gambling market in Serbia accounted for about $372 million in 2024. Serbian users are particularly enthusiastic about sports betting, with about 1,300 sportsbooks operating in the country.
Gaming machines at the expo stood out with bold designs and complex technology
Romania is home to another large market in the industry. In 2024, revenue totaled over $698 million, mainly due to online casinos, lotteries, and sportsbooks. Additionally, 90% of that income came through licensed operators.
In March of this year, gaming associations from Serbia, Romania, Croatia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Northern Macedonia came together to officially establish the Balkan Gaming Federation (BGF). The federation's main objective is to coordinate regulatory policy in the region, jointly battle illegal business, and break into new markets in Europe.
The gaming sector in the Balkans continues to grow and actively incorporate modern technology. However, breaking into international markets always comes with challenges. Strict legal and regulatory requirements, certification requirements, and the cultural nuances and mentality of new markets may complicate game promotion.
